I have a 22 year old Tag series 2000 every 3 or 4 years it had cost me around £90 to have a battery replaced by Tag agent . And now it needs another one .
As I am not too fussed about having the watch resealed , I thought I would press my watch repair kit to use . It has the correct device to unscrew the back of the watch , the replacement battery , correct brand as fitted by Tag is a "Renata" Amazon £3.75 , sorted !

Funnily enough my Longines Hydroconquest quartz chrono has just been sent for a battery change, £93 to preserve its 300M WR. Lunacy.
Such a sum normally gets me looking at the sub £200 watch thread as an alternative, but decided to get it done this time as not worn it for a few years.
You've just made me wonder whether it was worth getting it done properly, as it never sees water.

I got fed up with how long it took to get a replacement battery fitted by TAG so, whilst way more than £3.75, I now get the battery in my TAG Series 2000 replaced at my local In-Time and last time it was £55 for a new battery, seal and pressure test and was done in under an hour.

I also got fed up with £100 battery replacements for an Ebel, and also wasn't concerned about the resealing. Local watch guy now does it for under a tenner.

I pay £3.75 at my local market. Probably not waterproof but I don't care.

Swatch really nailed that bit where you just pop out just the battery back with a coin rather than have to take the whole thing apart and mess around.

I use a local used watch specialist who has a small shop. He pressure tests and charges £40. It took less than an hour to do.

And they do free battery changes for life if you pop in a Swatch shop...
