This chap is a watch repairer local(ish) to me.

I wondered if anyone on here has ever heard of him, or had any dealings with him?

I’ve no idea if his prices, but thought I’d ask on here before emailing him.

If it’s bad news, then my email is open via my profile.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to you all smile

Local to me too, although I do not know him.

Is it the local aspect that appeals to you? I am happy to send watches away to a repairer who I trust.

So am I. I’d usually send mine to the excellent Joe Horner at Anglesey Watches & Clocks, but if memory serves me correctly, I think he’s starting to wind down, (if you’ll excuse the pun). Although I’m happy to be corrected and apologise if he’s not?

So yes, it is the local and the ‘independent’ aspect that appeals to me.

Amusingly, I would also send my watches to Joe, who I know personally. He has done everything from Rolex and Omega to Seiko and Heuer stopwatches for me and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

As I said, there’s a chance that I may be wrong, (and willing to apologise if I am), but I was under the impression that Mr Horner was reducing his workload with a view to retirement?

You might be right but I don’t think that Joe is anywhere near old enough to retire.

In which case, I’ll send him an email after turkey, (dinner is now being served).

Just a quick update.

Sadly still no reply from my enquiry with Joe Horner sent on Christmas Day, so yesterday I took a couple of my watches up to Benjamin Redzia.

He seemed like a nice enough chap, was more than happy to chat and give my daughter some hints and tips about a future in horology.

I’ve received a detailed diagnosis and quote for the work required for both watches late this afternoon, (about 24 hours after dropping them off). I’m happy with the prices. No fixed timescale as of yet, (I kind of told him ‘whenever’).

I’ll update this thread once I’ve collected the two watches I currently have with him. I suspect that as I collect the two I have with him, I’ll be dropping another couple off with him for refurb / restoration work.

I just thought this information might be of interest to those in the South / West Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas.
