Looking for something different, mechanical (handwinding is fine) but would like it to be no more that 40mm. Ideally 36mm or thereabouts.

Considering Hamilton (they do a field winding mechanical) and also the Longines Heritiage Conquest range.

What other models are worth considering?

Could stretch to around £1k at the most but ideally a couple of hundred would be better.

Thanks in advance.

Also looking at the Orient Classic Bambino White Dial Automatic RA-AC0M03S10B but showing out of stock at Creation Watches.

Many thanks in advance.

I’ve just got a Casio Oceanus S100. £400ish. Ticks a lot of boxes.

Ignore me. It’s a quartz. But never needs winding or setting.

Seems as though Longines are the small form factor folk but there must be others worth looking at?

Thanks for any suggestions.

CWC G10 variant?

Cool watches and different to the usual suspects.

Seiko 5? Small diameter and fully automatic. Love mine but not particularly bling.

I was going to post almost the same. Recently bought my first Seiko 5 and I am pleased with it.

Thanks - yes have one already and often wear it - SNXS73 model. Does not keep great time (not magnetised) and seems to be different speeds depending on the angle. Have tried to regulate it a few times and it's pretty hard work. Might be doing something wrong though.

Would also like hacking as it's something I would like to regulate myself to improve stock accuracy.

Jura seem to have a wide range of Laco watches available. Quite a few of them are 40mm or less.

A Hamilton Jazzmaster (auto) 40mm would set you back around £500, I have the quartz version so slightly thinner profile..the long lugs on Hamilton/Longines do annoy me as I have a feminine-esq 6 inch wrist but the Jazzmaster sits well on the wrist and Ive had compliments on the dial.

A couple of other random suggestions based on models I own:
Certina Caimano automatic, I snagged mine on Watchshop last year for £230 (using voucher), absolute bargain for a streamline case with short lug to lugs that uses a ETA 2824 movement

Seiko 5 sports - likely not what you are looking for and we'll within budget...42.5mm diameter but short lug to lug means its well proportioned.

I own another Seiko 5...SNK something or the other but IMO it wears too small on my wrist, think it's a 36mm but doesn't get much time on the wrist.

If I was looking for something 36mm ish, mechanical and under a grand I wouldn’t be looking at anything new. The world’s your lobster of 1950’s/60’s watches.

I really like my C63 as an every day watch. For something that feels a bit more special I'd go Farer. Lots of choice under 40mm and £1k.

I have six Farers (39mm and 39.5mm) and rate them very highly as a brand. I have two CW C60 watches, both 40mm and love them too.
Really good value propositions.
Realistically I should sell a couple of the Farers but I do still wear them all in rotation.
