Hi all - I’m becoming a bit watch obsessed and fancy adding a panerai luminor - one is for sale near me. Anyone have one? I like the fact they look a bit offbeat biggrin

Yep; there’s a few Paneristi around here. It’s a slippery slope once the PAM bug bites.

What reference is the one you’re looking at?

Yes, I've got a PAM111. I admired them in shop windows and liked the contrast to the other watches I have. It is nice to wear and looks different.

I went with the PAM111 as to me it was the classic looking Panerai Lumina Marina that i had admired, uncluttered black sandwich dial and the flip top crown.

I put a Toshi strap on mine which is a bit chunkier than the original one, brown leather with a contrast stitch. Easy to do as the straps screw in and you get the tools with the watch. You also get the rubber strap with this watch which is a nice alternative.

overall, it's a really nice watch to have in a collection and mine has proven to be reliable and to keep decent time.

Another PAM owner here, and like the others, I wear mine with plenty of aftermarket straps to keep the look fresh. Seven years in on my Luminor Marina and it keeps good time and has had zero issues.

If you're "into" people recognising what watch you are wearing, you very rarely get any comments on it but those people that do know, appreciate it.

Join the club and get one!

Yep, have a 312. Keep it on a green camo Horus strap. Is great for holidays.

Yep,

I'm another smile

Echo the comments about straps - I've changed all of mine (and continue to do so)

I'm not sure I would buy one without trying it on first, they can have some odd proportions. I lusted after an 089 at the beginning, tried an 088 on and couldn't live with it as I have wide/thin wrists

I wouldn't buy a new one these days, as there is so much variety in their back catalogue that is better quality IMO.Just factor in the cost of a service price circa £400-£500 dependant on the model in question

First thing to consider is size....44mm or bigger smile

Good luck!

I wrote it plenty, but the base marina at 4500 is a bargain!

Another PAM owner here - had a couple in the past but still have my Destro (Left handed) PAM115.
Perfect size at 44mm - have it on a green Panerai branded rubber strap which always gets complimented.

Have some custom straps, a black Panerai rubber strap and three Panerai suede (or whatever they call it) in black, dark tobacco and green.
Love swapping the straps. The screw in retaining bars and the crown guard just give it a real "industrial" feel.

And I haven't mentioned the lume yet either !

Won't be leaving me anytime soon.

As above, try first to ensure they suit you. I have a 176 ti base (44mm) & a 372 (47mm).

Have had two over the years, a 005 and a 372. Both nice, but didn't quite do it for me so let them go. Do like their versatility with different straps though.

Currently have a PAM 1313 which is the blue dial, love it and now firmly a fan. Really like the green dial they do and will hopefully add that this year. Need to build the strap collection though based on some of these posts

I have the same as Fas above, the 1313. Lovely watch.

See my post here:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I know not everyone gets one, but I also like that fact. Horses for corses and all. I also like the fact that the general public probably won't swoon over it like they would a Rolex, some just dismiss it as a 'watch' and others who know what is it really appreciate it.

Which model are you after?

There's a 1312 over on TZUK which includes some additional straps ( https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?521183-PAM-... ) or I can put you in touch with an AD where you will get a brand new piece under list
