Rolex - Is This Fake ?
Discussion
The first two are clear on my phone, the third I struggled with
As I haven't had 10 posts saying of course it isn't because of xxxxx then I'll assume it's at least worthwhile getting appraised
I just didn't want to take obvious fakes
I also wondered if the scratching inside the back referred to servicing ?

To me it looks right, but I only watch youtube videos and have no watchmaking experience. It is not a model that I would think would have been faked (or at least, with this amount of effort). As I haven't had 10 posts saying of course it isn't because of xxxxx then I'll assume it's at least worthwhile getting appraised

For example the automatic winding work pivots are jeweled which I don't think is common but is something Rolex do, and that pinkish colour is correct for Rolex and is due to a process those wheels go through (I don't remember what it is).

If you think about what fakes were like in terms of quality when the watch was produced, that might give you a better idea of if it might be a fake or not.
I think this is a good point, it certainly looks like what you'd expect from a very quick google. I'd bet it is a genuine Rolex movement but it depends what it's in-it could easily be a Frankenwatch of bits and bobs but without more photos the forum experts won't be able to tell.SpanishTony said:

Was going to say this... recent fakes are very good and often difficult to assess from pics but if you tell me that watch is 10+ years old then I'd think that must be a good one. Have you got an independent specialist who would take a look for a drink?Jap90s said:
It's at least 15 years old - we found it in a box of misc stuff in the garage !
I haven't got any more pics but I'll update the thread when I know any more, we're taking a car full of stuff be be appraised he was something of a collector / hoarder
It’s probably a 60s watch. I haven't got any more pics but I'll update the thread when I know any more, we're taking a car full of stuff be be appraised he was something of a collector / hoarder
In your third picture there is a number in a square - it looks like 1560 - is it? That’s the movement model.
1002 in the case back is the model number.

Looks like a 1520 movement, which would fit with it being a 1960s 1002. Can’t imagine many of these have been faked with accurate looking movements. I’m going with real. In your third picture there is a number in a square - it looks like 1560 - is it? That’s the movement model.

I think it’s real too. No one would have faked these to this extent, not worth it. 34mm hasn’t been in fashion for a long time. gregs656 said:
