When I first wandered into this forum a few years ago it was the Rolex thread that got me returning to read. Just the wide range of postings from passionate people, the people who were passionate about the watch and other people passionate about the whole expressive and expansive "scene". It was a guilty pleasure to read the small minority cringy postings - sorry.

However, I have always worn a watch to tell the accurate time and they always break as I buy cheap watches.

After much reading of these hallowed pages and youtube always presenting me "watch" videos, in the last year I have bought 2 watches that suit me perfectly, work well and together cost about the same as a Christopher Ward. I would like to add a third soon that will fill another niche for me.

That's all well and good, not too much committed really enjoyed the reading around the subject to find items that fit my life, but now a big hole has opened up under me.

I want a Grand Seiko Spring drive watch.

There I have said it.

The way it is "powered", the longevity with minimal service and accuracy blows me away and I love the textured dials.

I hate you all for opening this hole under my feet that leads to the magical "grail" watch (can't believe I said that).

I am in the same position. Reading many of the threads on this site I’m now the proud owner of 3 Seiko’s and am dreaming of a Grand Seiko for my upcoming 60th. Now to convince myself I can part with the cash. A Dark Birch is at the top of my list.

Me too, for the same reasons. I made the mistake of looking at some in the WoS at the airport and I don't think any photo can do them justice. Thankfully the one I like most is the "basic" Snowflake, which is less ruinously expensive than most. I'm wondering if any of the 0% finance places would respond to a polite "any chance of a deal" email.
