Not that a quartz watch interests me, but an auction house has a boxed "Limited Edition " Tag Heuer Senna chrono for sale. I looked at how much they are new and found €3,550. The auction house estimates €500. Some investment huh!

Seen it too many times before. like a car estimated at £15,000 that sold for £90,000. The auction house had no idea how rare it was. I'll post the sale price.

Which Tag is it? Quartz sounds like it would be a Formula 1? I've got one of those and it cost nowhere near €3k. But please post the sale price as I'm thinking of moving mine on now anyway biggrin

Yes it is a Formula 1, and happens to be the exact one I'm looking to move on, so that gives me a very useful benchmark, thank you.

List price was £1200, so the buyer will be paying more than that once the fees are covered. There were no discounts either, in fact they were pretty difficult to get hold of!

Can we all agree they were never a 3 grand watch?

That's not the same watch smile

The auction was this one .. https://www.jurawatches.co.uk/products/tag-heuer-s...

Weirdly you could probably make a case for it actually being a half-decent investment for a Tag, in that it didn't lose huge value between RRP and auction.

The watch in question for this topic is a quartz. The £3k one is an automatic.

I have to say, I bought mine because I liked it. I never expected it to stay even close to retail, so that's an unexpected win. Especially as I've just agreed to buy some Porsche Cup 1s and I need to magic some cash from somewhere! laugh
