I've had a clear out, a rethink and starting again.
Gone: SMPO, Speedy Moonwatch, North Flag and Explorer.
In: Santos de Cartier medium and Sinn 556 I.
So I have posh & fancy and a daily utilitarian - now I need a desk diver 36-41mm dia. Nothing expensive, tops £2,500.
Obvious (to me) choices include Oris, Longines & Tudor.
Tudor is out as I feel as though I've done the Tudor thing and while they're very good, I don't gel with the brand or marketing.
Quite like a few of the Oris Aquis and Divers Sixty Five, not so keen on HydroConquest but the Legend Diver is promising, though maybe a tad big for my skinny 16.5cm wrist.
Any others I should be considering?

I've a 16.5cm wrist, I've not been able to wear Longines due to their long lugs..makes for a watch that always wears bigger than diameter suggests. Oris is good shout, their(their? Wtf? There )are a couple I'd wear but the white date wheel is quite jarring on some of the newer Aquis that otherwise I'd have bought.
Left field (because it's quartz and 'ticks') but the new Tag Aqua racer in titanium is lovely in the flesh imho press shots don't do it justice.

I'd look at some of the larger micro/direct to consumer brands as fair competition to the mid-tier Swatch group brands.
Maybe Bremont? The S300 is really nice and compact.
Doxa?
You could spend way less and get something from the SPB range.
You'd get an older SMP300 for your budget too, if you don't mind going used.

Some good ideas there, deffo some I wouldn't have thought of.
Not heard of Monta, but that one looks a little generic to me; the Stowa is very nice.
That TAG gets brownie points for Solar, but I don't really like titanium watches - they don't look right and are just don't weigh enough for their appearance, if that makes sense.
Not another Sinn, and the 556 covers the monochrome look very well so despite the Damasko being a great watch, it's not different enough to the Sinn.
Funnily enough, I was in a Bremont store at the weekend; really wanted to like them more than I did. Loved them online, in pictures but in the flesh, not so much. Doxa sharkhunter looks kinda cool...
Trying to avoid the big brands; plus I've had a couple of Omegas and moved them on - just not keepers for me.
Happy to consider used (very good condition, few years old).
Podie. Go stand in the corner and think about what you've done. I'm not angry, just disappointed.
In the meantime, Alpina Seastrong and Mühle Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue-Timer have pinged the radar, plus I should never have forgotten Zodiac.

Used, I'd be looking at this:

New(ish):

New:

Nope, all too big. Should have read the OP properly.

The first question is .... desk-diver ?? .. Do you really need a diver style,
You've got two great 'unusual/not the norm' watches, Does your daily need to be the norm and a diver style??
If yes, Steel bracelet or leather/sailcloth,
Steel or DLC ... Maybe Rado Ceramic,

Bezel ... With indices, numbers, or plain
New or S/Hand
Breitling, Ball or Bremont??
Or maybe something like these

Although I did see a nice special edition in Gothenburg from this maker

I'm fancying a CWC diver as a daily/(ahem)beater.. Nice and rugged, good military history and easy to swap straps.
I don't mind the quartz ones either although I'd prefer one with a sapphire crystal..

Did you handle one and feel how it felt when adjusting..
