I purchased a fake self-winding rolex in Thailand around 30 years ago. It has been my daily ever since. It now stops around once a day. Can I send it somewhere for a service or will it be declined/confiscated? I would rather keep it than lose it.

Thank you in advance for replies.

Just ask a local jeweller/watch shop to fix it.

If you’re familiar with Reddit there’s a few people on there that will deal with replica servicing. Search r/reptimeservices
https://onthebench.uk/ is one recommended on there.

It's great that you are wearing it everyday. I love when watches are worn rather than tucked away in a drawer to preserve them.

Would be interesting to see a picture of your watch to see how a "fake" has faired over the years.

A lot of places will decline to work on it.

But none can keep it. This is myth/nonsense. You own what you own.

That looks great - an obvious fake but a nice watch and it seems to have either worn well or you have taken really good care of it.

Might be worth just popping a whole new movement in it once you find a watchmaker rather than the cost to service it.

Many thanks for the photo.

I read the title to this and immediately thought why would you bother.

Now I find myself hoping you find someone who can fix it for you. £32 for ~30 years of service is amazing.

It does make you wonder why we pay more!

I visited a watch dealer to get a bracelet shortened on a fake DD around 2000 ish. He told me to turn around and leave or he would call the police and claim a £100 reward for taking a fake out of circulation. Not sure it was true or maybe he didn't like being confronted with a fake!

Call the police? £100 reward? The man was an imbecile.

I got to 10 years with a Daytona before I needed to send it in!

Amazing to hear your watch ran for 30 years! Good luck with servicing it. I'm sure many independent watchmakers could do it for you.

For a fake watch i wasn't about to ask him to prove it and have him be correct!

The only problem with fakes they normally have crap movements and servicing them
Can be a pain. I normally won't touch them myself
