Anyone know if there are any discounts available on Omegas? Looking at the seamaster planet ocean “Oreo” and if I could get it cheaper it would make it even more tempting as a decent big birthday present for myself.

You can probably get 10-15% buy going into a couple of AD's and asking if you are willing to buy there and then.

I got 10% off a Seamaster 300 Professional a couple of years ago when it was my 40th in Ernest Jones.

Yes, generally non-limited edition/non-high demand Omega watches are available with a discount although I've had different experiences with Omega boutiques vs authorised dealers. ADs will typically offer a discount, boutiques tend to offer free services on the watch when you ask.

Don't expect to just be offered it, you'll need to ask and as the post above says, be prepared to buy it on the spot. Also don't call ahead asking for discounts, they'll usually only be available if asking in person in my experience.

Boutique only offered me something like £200 off when I asked to buy a Seamaster 300M, which I thought was pretty poor. Then luckily I ended up saving over £1500 buying one in duty free at Toronto Pearson airport when they had a deal on. Not that I'm suggesting you go to Canada to save money. biggrin

Be a great way to get one though. A holiday with the difference in price.

I’ve just looked and could only find second hand watches and not the one I’m after, do they do new ones? Although I would have a second hand one if they had the model I wanted in.

Yes, he can source new watches. Even if he can't get the watch you want at the right price he may give you a tip where to go.

They’re a pretty interesting watch.

I think the first watch to use two different colours of ceramic on a bezel.

Does the Rolex GMT have a ceramic bezel?

Fraser Hart gave me a discount on a Speedmaster but not without a pantomime. I looked at several and asked about a discount, the girl serving me gave an emphatic "no" and lost interest. On my way out I was intercepted by an older assistant who said he couldn't help overhearing and was sure something could be done.

And it was. He ordered one in specially and gave me a discount. Whether it was the ordering one rather than buying one from stock I don't know, but they got the business and I got a watch at a discount.
