J W Benson - Pocket watch

Hi

My father in law has a J W Benson pocket watch with a gold chain and a half gold sovereign at the end of the chain.

He is interested to know if these are valuable or not? Any ideas?

Do you know where is the best place to get them valued? A jewellers we used for another watched just valued based on the weight of the gold, rather than the watch, so would prefer one that knew about watches.

Unfortunately, "late" pocket watches are pretty much only worth the scrap gold value.

Maybe sell the chain/fob and keep the watch?
