I have to agree with the general consensus.
If the objective is not to be mugged, your potential mugger will not have a microscope and will not wait to check if the watch he's clocked on your wrist is real or not.
Yes, you won't lose as much financially, but that'll be scant relief if you're doubled up on the ground with some teeth missing.
Personally, I just wear an iWatch when out and about and keep the nice one for evenings.

It would be interesting to know the odds of "being mugged generally" compared to "being mugged specifically because you're wearing a Rolex".
