Last year I bought three watches, taking the total I own to nine. A modest "collection", but then a collection isn't really what I intended..!

I'm not sure about one of those three (a Farer) and may sell it on. I've worn it a few times but it isn't one I leap to wearing.

As well as the Farer, there are another two in the "collection" that I never wear.

Both were gifts from my parents: a random cheapy (Guess?) from my Dad and a Skagen quartz chrono from both of them when I was 40. Being honest I don't like either and I don't wear them. But, as they were gifts from my parents (who don't have much money) I can't bring myself to get rid of them.

Anyone else own watches that you don't wear but won't part with?

Since getting an Apple watch I’ve hardly worn any of mine.

Was always afraid this would happen. Think I’ll have a clear out.

Sold most of mine now but I have one which was a gift for my 21st which i don't wear but will never sell, same with my Grandfathers watch, neither of which are valuable anyway.

I have a Swatch Omega Moonswatch which which I never really wear.

I have a G-shock which does get some wear usually when i'm at work and an IWC Aquatimer which is my favourite and I wear most days

I haven't worn any battery powered watches for ages because I can't be bothered to faff with batteries.

There's a few that need a service and don't keep good time.

Not worn anything Russian/Soviet for the last two years.

Don't tend to wear the homage watches these days.

I should open a shop hehe

Same. Been about 3 months now and none of the Rolex, Breitling, 2 Christopher Wards, 3 Seikos and a Rotary have left the box once since it arrived.

My daughter wanted one and spent her saved up pocket money on a refurb Apple watch, and then I did similar a few weeks later. I kind of hate to admit it - but it's brilliant.

I had a Tag 2000 Automatic, wasn't wearing it so sold it on eBay last week.
Small watch with quite a big bezel didn't work for me. The face must be well under 30mm.

Got 350 for it which is not bad IMO.

Main watch now is Seamaster ceramic bezel... I think I'm a one watch guy.

Have a cheap Casio for the gym.

tried the apple watch thing - don't like it too distracting!

Apple 'watch' is a gadget IMO.
I prefer the elegance and feel of a mechanical timepiece, but my old friend Omega DeVille isn't worn much now in favour of a JLC.

I have a Hamilton Model 22 Deck Watch. It's too big to even use as a pocket watch, but it's such a great piece from arguably the last hurrah for mechanical timekeeping that having it is worth more than the cash to me. Especially given what almost any wristwatch is going for these days.

I have a few watches. Including a Samsung smart watch, Tag Aquaracer and a couple of battery watches.

What do I wear? A second hand first gen Tag Heuer Connected. Love it. No Google pay option (that came along with Gen 2) but I get my emails and messages up on it and I can change/customise the faces. I have my phone to pay for things so dont miss waving my watch. Battery easily lasts the day, would probably last two I guess.

Ive got probably 25 GShocks that I haven't worn in probably at least 2-3yrs now.

I keep thinking about whether to move them on, they aren't worth much each but it seems a shame they're just sat doing nothing.

I sold my whole collection of mechanical watches, bar one, after getting a Garmin.

The one left is a Planet Ocean 2500D with very special meaning to me, and I will keep it until I die.

I have quite a few I don’t wear. Some of them I will eventually move on but some of them have sentimental value.

I don't disagree. However, the Apple watch does the core time-telling function of a watch plus so much more that it's completely taken over my wrist. Simple things like responding to MFA prompts when accessing secure systems at work - lift wrist, tap the 'yes it's me' button, and I'm in. When you do that 20-30 times a day, it's the sort of litle timesaver that adds up compared to typing a code in. I can't see outside from my desk, but I can simply look at my watch and immediately see that it's 10C and not raining - don't need my coat to get a sandwich. When's my next meeting? Again, lift wrist, next up is a team call in 45 minutes. Then when I go swimming of an evening, the same device will log the distance and calories burned, and all the timings and strokes used. It'll log my heart rate, how well I sleep, be an alarm clock, work as a contactless card to pay for things, remind me to go places and do things, and more besides.

I know I sound like a born again Christian, but it really has opened my eyes, and I'm no technophobe (work in IT).

I have a few vintage pieces in great condition or irreplaceable so wear very sparingly in case I loose or damage them.

I recently sold everything except 3 pieces. (AP 15510 green dial, DJ41 card dated daughters birthday, 1of50 studio underdog Arabic dial if I need to wear a snotter)

It’s been quite liberating actually, I’ve stopped playing the AD game, I’ve stopped looking at the majority selling pages.

I bought a Sea-Dweller new in 2015 but I find it hard to wear for more than 3 or 4 days, so I generally don’t

I haven’t worn any of my proper watches for ages….Apple Watch strikes again. Black SS Daytona, IWC Portuguese Automatic, 60’s JLC Memovox. I’ve owned the IWC for about 15 years and the other two for about 25 years. Feel like I should sell them but there’s part of me that wants to keep them for my kids. Wore the Daytona pretty much every day for over 20 years.

I wore an Apple Watch for 3+ years and realised I wasn’t wearing anything else whilst also getting (a) irritated at daily charging and (b) increasingly aware that I was addicted to notifications.

So I went cold turkey. Took around 3 weeks to kick the habit and haven’t looked back since.

I think I’ve worn it 2 or 3 times when my Garmin had gone flat and I needed to time a run (because if it isn’t on strava, it didn’t happen!)

I was bought an Apple Watch a few years ago as a birthday present. I didn’t really want one but I gave it a go. Felt a tt ‘double wristing’ so just wore the Apple Watch. Functionality was ‘okay’ but not life changing. Fortunately my daughter’s Apple Watch subsequently broke which gave me my out, so I gave her mine, and I do not miss it one bit. In fact it reiterated just how much I love mechanical watches.

Ditch the smart watches people! You really don’t need them!

I wear all of mine in my daily rotation, sometimes I change watches multiple times a day to match clothing- workwear, casual wear around the house, something smarter if I'm out of an evening.

I have two watches I don't wear any more. The first is an old Casio G-Shock my dad bought me for my 13th birthday, the case cracked and the resin has broken down due to tough use over the years I wore it.

The second is my Samsung smartwatch- I was an early adopter of smartwatches with the Pebble Time, then my Samsung watch- wore them for the best part of a decade and just got so tired of keeping them charged & getting distracted by notifications. Haven't worn smartwatches in years! I'm a young guy so I feel a little out of place sometimes without them biggrin
