Hi all

What is the collective view on Stowas - both modern and classic?

I've seen a 1940s model that I really like but they're not a brand I'm familiar with

I owned a Type A flieger from Stowa for a while. I really liked it, especially the blued hands. Foolishly sold it, but I would certainly have another. They are very nice.

Great looking watches.

Whilst I suspect it'd be slightly inferior in quality, for a WW2 design I'd probably go with a Laco Aachen since they cost around £300 and tick enough boxes for me.

I have a Flieger Classic 40 Baumuster B. It's an excellent watch and the quality is superb. I have other 'more premium' brands but this still gets its fair share of use and I'd happily get another if I was in the market

Had mine for just over a year now and still love it. Currently on a NATO strap

I Have:

Flieger Klassik hand-wound
Antea 1919
Bronze Marine Classic

They are very nicely made watches that you can only buy from the manufacturer, and their customer service is great.

You'd be hard pushed to find any negatives about Stowa, and if you're thinking about getting one then go for it. smile

Pedantic I know, but the picture looks like a Zulu strap

I've just had a look at the Stowa site, not really knowing much about them, and the white faced ProDiver has caught my attention!

What's the situation ordering in GER and then delivering to the UK... do we get import taxes / VAT applied?

Cheers

Think you get the German tax deducted at the checkout but pay the UK VAT on delivery.

Think it's something like that from memory. smile

Edited for phone typos!

To double-down on the pedantry, that looks like a two-piece nylon strap (and a very nice one too)

Hi all

I was actually talking about a watch from the 1940s.

I decided to go for it and it arrived today;

It's more similar to my Reverso than I appreciated but still pretty happy with it

Nice. Has a very art deco look.

A few of us in the sub £200 thread dropped lucky and snagged some Lacos for £118.....bargain.
