The best 'one watch' solution
Discussion
Just for fun, I know the best solution is multiple watches.. but what would you say was the once single watch that can 'do it all' or at least cover a lot of bases.
Dressed up, dressed down, sports, not too flashy?
What would you suggest at various price points? What would be your preference?
I think a £10k Sub covers a lot.... although utterly ubiquitous....what else?

This is what I got the Railmaster for.
I absolutely love the simple, no date dial. It's brushed enough to be a tool watch, smart and thin enough to be worn with a suit and tie, and with 150m of water resistance I can swim with it on too. Looks good on the bracelet, and 20mm lugs easily fit most NATOs, or aftermarket straps. Great lume as well. It ticks every box for me and I wear it most days.
I doubt I'll ever buy anything more expensive as it does everything I want from a watch. I still love collecting other watches, but this one will always have a special place. I was very lucky to get one of the last ones at a boutique just after it was discontinued.

As a real world example. I haven't worn another watch since I got a Garmin Fenix
I'm an outdoor multisport person and it does everything.
I've got some nice Seikos and Seamaster but they've been sitting in a drawer for best part of 10 years. Slightly pains me to know that despite all the lovely watches posted here which give me a twinge of lust, if I bought one it would end up with my others in amongst the socks.

Omega Seamaster Professional.
Not ridiculous price-wise, not in your face flashy, you don't have to play a stupid waiting game to get one, you can wear it with a suit or with jeans and a hoodie, it will tackle any sport you throw at it and will last forever if you service it properly.

I always find Garmin's too big to wear under a shirt/suit. A shirt just doesn't fit correctly over one.I'm an outdoor multisport person and it does everything.

Yup. It is a bit of a mess and frays up cuffs for fun. I could just about manipulate a double cuff to work with it.No longer an issue for me. Been off the hamster wheel for five years.
My money would go on a Cartier Santos de Cartier in steel. I’d probably go medium no date. Great solid construction, 100m WR, quick change system for the bracelets and straps. Can be easily resized with the easy link invention so your partner can borrow it.
Slim case so slips under cuffs. I think it’s the first wristwatch too? First pilot / sport watch? Great heritage and well respected brand.

I have a Sinn 105 on a fine link bracelet and find it to be the perfect everyday watch - exclusive (as in rarely seen), eminently affordable, robust and keeps perfect time. And no 'dance' to be done with a silly 'AD'.
Genuinely, the only watch I feel that I need.
I also have a Speedmaster that I wear occasionally but there's something about a Sinn that is just so 'right' and authentic.
