What's In A Name?
Discussion
If Timex had taken better care of their legacy watches, they might be credible at this price point. They make nice enough watches, but the moment you need spares or servicing they're just not there. I have two watches in my small collection which were both bought in the mid 90s, my Citizen chronograph and my late Fathers Timex. Both went wrong in the last couple of years, but my Citizen was the only one able to be repaired. I can't even aquire a new movement for dad's Timex, the best I can do is buy a second hand donor watch and cannibalise it for parts.
As it stands, I have no more faith that Timex will repair this watch in 20 years than I do any of the others they make. At nearly 2k, that cannot be the ownership expectation.

That's pretty desperate, isn't it? Terrible name too, regardless of whether or not you have any aversion to Mr Musk's products (I know this is not affiliated, but it's the first thing that springs to mind when you read the name). Proper magic bean territory!Edited by redrabbit on Wednesday 24th June 13:53

That's very interesting. I've pondered their Galli model a few times and wondered if it would be worth the price (especially now it can be had for c. £600 vs. £900 or so a year ago). I quite like the idea of a 'luxury Timex' if the quality was there, but for me that's too expensive to scrap if it became unserviceable.
