Can anyone remember the name for the Far Eastern (possibly Thai) website that was the go to recommendation for a Seiko Monster or SKX007/9?

I want to look at their current offerings but I have completely forgotten their name.

Thank you but no. I will know it when I hear it.

I might try searching Google / PH for talk of duty and VAT as they usually avoided it but people were always concerned.

Heck. Values have firmed up. £600+ for an SKX009 on a bracelet and it isn’t even Japanese!

I paid about £65 for my last one.

Yeah, just had a look out of curiosity and thought my SKX007 was around 85 on a jubilee back in 2014 (although that was before they were discontinued) - glad you've confirmed I wasn't going mad!

Prices have gone crazy and I have no idea why anyone would pay that kind of money for one.

I have a tandorio skx homage, it's titanium with sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and nh35 and was less than £60 brand new.

It's certainly what a modernized version would be for a very reasonable price.

There appear to be used/refurbs for the same money. Cheap straps, 009 so less appealing and Malaysian manufacture.

The Prospex at £319 is more like it. That said, the orange Prospex monster that I bought at the start of the pandemic is still sitting unworn in my watchbox.

For the money Seiko charge there are so many interesting options now - some more original than others.

Prices seem to wander quite a bit. I have an original orange Monster (probably courtesy of this forum!) which I've had a long time and I don't recall paying more than £100 for it. Pretty sure I bought it from Creation, along with a few other Seikos. A few years ago they were being listed on eBay at £500-600 - just had a quick look and they're "back down" to £200-£250 now it seems. Mine's not for sale so it's irrelevant to me but interesting all the same.

There's no way an 007 or 009 is worth £425 or £610 on a bracelet - they were never particularly special watches & everyone went for them because they were affordable & had a bit of a following.

OP, I don't know where you are based but watch out for VAT & courier charges because at those prices they will attract attention. They even say it will be 23% plus courier charges on the shipping page - at least to the UK. I reckon that would come in at around £775 which is really silly money.

A potential alternative I've had my eye on, but by the time you add import taxes it might be cheaper to just get from Amazon:

I've seen them on Ali Express quite a few times and have been tempted. I'm just not sure if I can get over the name and logo. Makes me think of an Indian Takeaway. Sterile ones just look off too.
