Selling expensive watch
Discussion
I am considering selling a watch I own, a Patek Philippe, which I have owned from new for the last 17 years. Since I retired I haven’t worn a watch so it is sitting in its box in the back of a cupboard.
Having never tried to sell something like this where are the most reputable/safest places to sell It? I have little desire to put it on eBay or similar!

The simplest way is to sell it to a dealer like Watchfinder who have a process for giving you an initial offer estimate through their website.Having never tried to sell something like this where are the most reputable/safest places to sell It? I have little desire to put it on eBay or similar!
Chrono24 is popular selling platform but there are risks for a private seller that if you are not keen on eBay then you definitely won’t like. Personally I prefer eBay.
If you’re interested in a private sale drop me an email I may be interested as I traded my only PP in last year and looking for a replacement.
Chrono24 and eBay have their faults but they offer a big market of browsers. C24 want 6.5% of the sale price as commission from memory. EBay don’t do that but they deduct the buyer protection fees from the sale proceeds (a lot less than 6.5% IME).
Watchfinder offers are lowball. I never bothered with them; the main objective was to stop them emailing me any further.
I bought from subdial and was impressed. No idea what their sell side is like.
