OMEGA Seamaster Service

I have an old OMEGA Seamaster 2254.50 that needs a service and also repair for non working date and minor water ingress.



My local jeweler has sent it to OMEGA Switzerland and the estimate has come back at £1200 for the work.

I do love the watch and have owned it nearly 25yrs - it is my daily and has not been off my wrist much in that time - many hours in the sea, shower, DIY etc. etc. It's still in excellent cosmetic condition with very little wear damage. Incredible really considering use, and testament to the quality of a good swiss watch.

As many will know, values of this particular model of Seamaster have risen due to it's unique look (sword hands) etc.
However, the service / repair cost is far higher than i expected - last service was ~£400 from memory at Omega.

Are there any trusted repairers on here, or recommendations of place I could go to for alternative?

Watch Doctors in Tring would be where I'd take it if not Omega. Their website says £470 to service that watch.

I cannot see why it was that much. Mine went back through Sheffield Meadowhell AD but I’m sure they have a service place in Southampton now. Previously it went to Swiss. Twice now the winder has let go causing the intervals to grind. They changed a lot of gears and springs and they do the seals anyway. Unless yours specifically had water damage?

I’ve reached out to Watch Doctors and also another recommended Omega specialist.

From the estimate back from Omega they were also replacing the bezel due to being stiff!
