I've been mugged this evening and they have managed to take my 16610 Submariner. Happened in Salford.

At least they didn't get the car and wallet.

Right, you need to report this to the Police. Once you have the crime number, call Rolex UK on 01322 521436 to report the watch as stolen. Rolex keep a database of lost/stolen case numbers, if the watch is ever returned for a service in the future it will be retained and the rightful owner contacted.
Also if the watch is offered for sale to a dealer, it should be checked as a matter of course by the dealer buying it in. This also offers potential for a return.

It's useful to note, you can always check the case number of any Rolex you are thinking of buying with Rolex to ensure it's not lost/stolen.

I know your watch is gone, but this may be useful....

Sorry to hear that and as somebody who loves watches and owns a few expensive ones it scares me so much that I wont wear a watch when I go around mcr.

A few years back a pal had his bi-metal Sub taken off him in a bar in Mcr City Centre. Two lads followed him into the gents, commented on his watch and before he knew it he had been punched hard to the head and the watch was taken off his wrist.Be careful...

Good, because you will (hopefully) get your money back, and and any time in the future anyone takes it in for a service, will have it confiscated, and they will be nicked.

Mine has not been off my wrist for 27 years now.............

Horrified to hear of this but the upside is that you and yours are all ok. Hope those guilty get their come-uppance in the very near future...

What happens if someone buys a Rolex/similar in good faith and it turns out to be stolen, some years later?

Someone I know did just that, from a dodgy shop in London. When it first went in for a service, the boys in blue came around, (shop had been informed of the stolen watch serial number), after he managed to convinced them he wasn't actually involved in the robbery, the police politely informed they would be returning the watch to the insurers, whom had paid out on it, and was therefore belonged to them.

When he asked about the 5k he had paid for it, they informed it was his problem, not theirs. On the return to London, the shop had long gone, and he was 5k out of pocket.

Great! Not!
It's just that i bought a Rolex in New York for, well, silly cheap money and it's not a fake, either.
I have had it 9 years now, but i sometimes wonder.........

AFAIK, you can't pass title to something which you don't legally own - although I guess there must be a statute of limitations that applies?

7.

'Posession is nine-tenths of the law', they used to say.
I don't suppose it means much however!

I have a receipt to say i paid, okay $1,000, around £560 for the watch, a fraction of the true value at the time or now.

What was the story?

Have you had it serviced?

Similar to a girl who had her mini stolen, a couple of years later, it was recovered, had been highly modified, it was returned to her. (not how the insures was involved in this)
