... is this normal?

seems a bit excessive to be spending 20% of the cost of the watch on a service.

can anyone recommend anywhere more reasonable - I'm assuming Goldsmiths on Canary Wharf doesn't offer the keenest of prices!

Getting my Tag Senna fixed and serviced for just over a ton.

Any decent jeweller will have a watchmaker contact.

They are probably sending it off to LVMH in Worsley and adding 100% mark up on it.
Just send it yourself. I've always found them very helpful and usually turn things round quicker than they quote.

If not look for a decent watch specialist who does his own servicing but he may not be able to guarantee the full 200 metres waterproofing!

TAG quoted me £199 to service a Heuer Carrera Lemania1873 Reissue. So is about the right ball park.

The Carrera isn't water-resistant to 200m, just 50m. Servicing is straight forward for any competant watchmaker at a much lower price, £280 is over 25% of the retail cost of the watch.....

Thats a chrono and a manual....Twin time is neither- should be significantly cheaper!
(I have the same carrera Lemania- my servicing was £175 via my usual AD, who sent it on to TAG)

I recently paid £80 for a service and minor problem fix (repositioning chrono hands) on my G-P F1-2000 which has a pretty complex in-house/modular movement. Quick turnaround as well.

I cannot understand paying AD prices unless its still under warranty, and if it is ... why are you paying?
