Touros Tourbillon Watches
Discussion
Has anybody got any experience or dealt with Touros. I have always lusted after a tourbillon - I know that Touros use Chinese movements - but funds are in short supply.

Isn't it still a proper tourbillon when it's Chinese made?
Call me a snob, but no. Sure, a lot of the parts etc are mechanically the same, but I am yet to see anything of Chinese manufacture that is as of good quality (or better than), of something else you can buy in this world. See: Cars, jewellery etc etc etc.

At the risk of peevishness, is there anybody out there who has dealt with Touros?
Nope, but have you looked at the BHI Tourbillon?http://www.bhi.co.uk/150Watch.html
I think if I were looking for a cheap tourbillon it would be on my list.

It's the same movement as in the Touros tourbillons - there's only one manufacture in China that can make tourbillons and they're finding it tricky!
I'm not quite as snobbish, since it's the engineering marvel of the tourbillon that attracts me to them, but I'm not keen on the Chinese one purely because of the design of the cage... Yep I may sound insane but the Chinese one looks 'chunky' and not quite as precision-engineered, and not as delicately balanced. It must be in order to function as a watch, but there's something 'pressed' rather than machined in the appearance of the tourbillon.
Have to hand it to them though - certainly woke the Swiss up, since the tourbillon design is actually IIRC the Chinese's own, and not the usual blatant replica of someone else's design (e.g. the ETA replicas which are pretty much exact copies)... if only it *looked* nicer, I'd have one. And waste hours staring at it spinning round until I went insane. Or 'more' insane
