So this is where all those threads I never read ended up hehe

After an inheritance windfall of £xx800 pounds, I'm looking to spend the £800 rump on a fine watch. I love the simple look of the Omega Seamaster 300 M Midsize, but it looks like that's just out of my range.

Any recommendations?

Thanks smile

How much is just out of your range? I wouldn't assume that list price is what you'll pay - you should be able to haggle a reasonable chunk off, and that's before you've looked at the used market.

Plenty of choice out there for your budget.

As above, look around at the used market. Here are a few sites to start you off:
chronomaster.co.uk
watches.co.uk
blowers-jewellers.co.uk
hackett-watches.co.uk

Have a look and post back about what you have found. It's a very friendly forum so don't be shy. smile

I have a full size auto "bond" seamaster (not the 007 one), unworn since a recent £300 refurb/servioe by Omega UK.
On top of the service, I've had a new set of hands fitted, the dial replaced (both because the lume was poor) & a brand new bracelet (an extra £400).

Comes boxed with papers etc, not getting any wrist time as i wear the Panerai every day.

Mail me if interested.

Depends on the style you are looking for but for that money I'd go for either a used Omega Speedmaster Professional (got mine for £810) or for something dressier a Stowa Marine Original.

Here they are:

Stowa:

I would not be suprised if that budget would get you new. I have bought a few Omegas through http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Omega/Seamaster-300m-... over the years....

The Stowa MO would be new for your budget. Probably too dressy based on your original suggestion though.

Thing is you get a far wider choice if you do consider used - with very few exceptions watches don't hold their value.

You're missing out if you don't! Almost all of my watches are 'pre-owned' and as far as I'm concerned, all it means is I'm getting a killer watch for a lot less money than it would have cost me new. I've bought a couple which were a few months old that were absolutely like new, not a mark on them, and I saved hundreds on each.

Absolutely!!!

A good chunk of my watches are used, buy carefully and you have nothing to worry about and plenty to save! I got 600 quid off my B&R cos it was too big for his wrist, he had worn it once and it still had all the clear plastic labels etc on it. Literally brand new but much cheaper!!

Private sale on TZ-UK. Didn't have the original sale invoice, but inner and outer box, manual, bracelet, etc. all present and correct.

Have to say I was a little bit doubtful about the Speedy before I got one - they are very common after all - but I now know they are common for a reason: they are truly fantastic watches. Perfect size and weight, easy to read, great lume, what's not to like?

As said above it would be nuts to dismiss pre-owned.

That's a storming deal! Might need to sign up to TZ...
