Got Watch back from IWC today, Happy
Discussion
Bit of a weird one this one, with slight shock, but happy ending.
My wife was clearing out her fathers place, and she knows I like watches. Anyway, got a call at work where she says "found this old watch, looks really rough, and I'm thinking of throwing it out". Common sense prompted her to ring me, and when I get home find out it is an old IWC Ingeneur in very very sad state.
Checked around to find a good IWC place that could restore it, but just could not get confident, so brought it to IWC. They were shocked to say the least, and were using the term "intervention" so I knew the bill would be quite sore. Apparently they found it quite topical that they were releasing a more modern interpretation this year of the original Ingeneur and some of the people at IWC had never actually seen the original.
Final result. Picked up watch today, looks spectacular. Okay, bill expensive, but watch is now restored to original glory.
Cannot thanks the guys at IWC enough, yes I paid a lot, but they did a good job, and how many times these days can you say that.
All's well that ends well, and I guess I bought myself a bit of a christmas pressie.

Sadly, no pics of before, but suffice it to say that it said "national watch company" so the dial was a complete mess.
I have tried to get a photo, but I cannot get the level of detail on my digital camera.
It is now like a new watch, and completely spotless.
New dials, hands, crystal, complete movement overhaul, new strap and even an IWC box, so the whole nine yards.
