Hi,

I bought an Omega Speedy Pro to wear everyday last year but this is damaging the plastic crystal and I've decided to keep it for best.

I am after a good mechanical watch (with a sapphire crystal this time!). So far I am thinking of a Sinn 144 but am wondering what the experts out there might recommend instead? I don't mind buying secondhand.

I prefer the more classic, simple looking watches like IWC's and would ideally like a chronograph of some sort.

Cheers.

I have snoopy edition speedy pro. Use poly watch to remove the scrathes from the crystal. it takes next to no time and cost's 4 quid or so ebay for a tube.

Thanks, have some already, but worried about deeper scratches that won't polish out. Cheers.

I'll give you three choices all of which are top watches with sapphire glass.

Sinn, Sinn or Sinn at this price. Either that or save a fortune and get a Seiko.

2nd hand Seamaster, or a Sinn 356.

£750 with an acrylic face, but I'm sure you can get them with sapphire too.
Ask cyberface, every time he posts pics of his I lust after one.

Another vote for Sinn - I really like the simple dial on the 556, but at only 38mm across, it is just too small for my wrist.

But will be saving my pennies after the silly season for one of these -

Agreed by many to be the most versatile watch they own - Sinn 203 Arktis

You could have a sinn 756 or 856 for that money used, but you'll have to beat me to it! wink

Also the 757 or 657 diver styles worth a look.

I bought a sapphire speedy pro for exactly the reasons you describe. Knew I'd destroy it...

At up to £750, you're right in the zone for a Stowa Seatime.

mine fell off the scuttle of the race car when i jacked up the other side at brands in the summer and fell onto the tarmac making a right mess of the crystal, Polywatch sorted it all out though.
