Omega Warranty question
Discussion
Hi,
My Omega Seamaster just broke a few hours ago (the minutes hand is loose and the hours isn't moving although the seconds hand is still going strong). I have just looked out the warranty card but it expired end of July this year. As it's only a few months outside it's warranty would it be worth asking Omega if they can offer something as a goodwill gesture or something along those lines to get it fixed?
If they are going to be of no help - how much would getting an estimate cost? (never had a watch worth repairing before so don't want to get ripped off).
thanks,

Your Warranty is 5 months expired so I would not expect any favours, had it been 5 days you may have been lucky but not 5 months.
Take it to an Omega Dealer and they will quote you for the repair, this will not cost you, you can then decide whether to go for it or flip it on the Bay as it is.

Certainly worth asking, and if they refuse to offer any goodwill consider SOGA as in anything you buy should be expected to last a reasonable time, and arguably 2 and a bit years isn't reasonable when spending that kind of money on a watch.
Of course you need be prepared to follow that route through if they still refuse to help.

I broke my Speedmaster out of warranty. The chronograph stopped working and I could see through the crystal case back there was a pin rattling about inside. I had a word with http://www.martinsjewellers.co.uk/ and they said that the movement would be all stripped and reassembled during a service, so if I sent it in I'd get it back working and serviced at no extra cost over the service. It was due a service anyway so it worked out great. Though, I was quoted 2-3 weeks and it ended up taking over 3 months to get it back!
