Though it can't last long and there's a lot of stuff already sold out. Couple of half price Corums and Mauric Lacroix that are definitely worth a look, like this http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=&p...

No one will like that, they'll say, "but it's quartz". Instead of getting on board with an exciting adventurous Haute Horlogerie. Memoire1 - anyone? Thought not.

I think you'll find most on here are aware of, and have a great deal of respect for Maurice Lacroix and their history.

However I think you'll also find that most have a love for watches due the engineering marvel and the 'romance' of a mechanical movement.

To that end, I doubt many would spend 1750 quid, (let alone the full price), on a quartz movement, whoever the manufacturer is.

Who are you to criticise that choice?

I think you'll find most here have never heard of ML and know nothing of their history.

Where did I criticise any ones choice? Do point that out. There's a good chap.

While I'm waiting for some clever comeback might I just point out that you said.

The tone of your post was patronising and condescending towards anyone who'd dismiss the watch for being a quartz. To me that implies you feel they'd be wrong in adopting that point of view.

TBH it's gone 2am, you don't come across as a very nice person, and I really can't be bothered to argue with you.

Why don't we see what the morning brings, and what our fellow horologists feel about the topic and the watch in question. I think you may be surprised by their knowledge.

You dismissed it as quartz. And were patronizing. Assuming I know nothing.

You proved exactly my point.

Well done that man.clap

I have not assumed that you know nothing. Please don't put words in my mouth.

I did not patronise you. If you felt patronised, then you really need to toughen up.

I simply explained why people may prefer mechanical movements to quartz. If you already knew this, why did you feel the need to state that people wouldn't like the watch due to it being quartz?

People's opinions on quartz/mechanical movements are personal, and neither right, nor wrong, whatever you or I think.

I personally prefer mechanical movements and so wouldn't buy the watch in question, DESPITE being a big admirer of Maurice Lacroix. A memoire 1 it is not wink

This is the watch section of PH, and most people in here are very interested in what's going on INSIDE the watch. Therefore you saying that most in here wouldn't spend that much on a quartz is stating the obvious. Ask in P&P and you might well get a different answer.

I'm sure you'll come back again, you seem the type of person who has to have the last say. I shall give you that pleasure, as I have no wish to talk to you any more.

Of the 296 posts I have to date, a good 250 have been here in the watches section. Patronising?

I was, if you care to read what I said, pointing out to the OP that posting that watch here, will just cause the PH massive to come along and say...well pretty much what you did.

I have 2 quartz watches. A G-shock and a Junghans radio controlled, neither get any wrist time really.

Too add

Yaaay I got the last word.
woohoo

Noyadint!

That's a lorra lorra lolly for a quartz. <-- the last word.

Anyway, for the same money at the same website, there's this, which arguably looks better.

What about this? http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=&p...Nice and automatic and everyone loves a moonphase, don't they? I know I do. TBH, I hadn't really looked too carefully at the first ML I linked to, was just trying to give an example of some of the savings on offer!
