Pimp my Rolex (& other such tomfoolery)
Discussion
I am considering purchasing a rolex, possibly pre-owned. I am after something special and I have seen a couple of sites who offer pre-owned rolexes which have been considerably pimped (diamonds etc).
Now....whilst I am after something special, I still want it to be tasteful and I have seen this:
http://www.swisswrist.co.uk/uploads/products/6917_...
What I want to know is....is it real ?
If so why the huge reduction ?
Even though it is preowned, surely with the addition of 1ct of diamonds (even though small) it would raise the value of the watch ?
Now I know these have had aftersales additions and the rolex warranty isn't worth the paper its written on but are they real ?
Please help !!!
Thanks in advance

The link only shows a picture, no price / reduction, Rolex do produce this watch (or certainly something similar, there are lots of variations of each model) looks like a ladies Oyster Perpetual Datejust if I'm not mistaken. Maybe with added bling !!

Is it real? It's a basic Rolex 6917 with an after-market diamond dial and bezel, it's not original.Now....whilst I am after something special, I still want it to be tasteful and I have seen this:

Why the huge reduction? Rolex have never made this model, so no list price exists.
Does the 1.0ct of Diamonds raise the value? It's not an original bezel or dial, so it'll only raise the value of the item by the scrap value of the gold/diamonds.
In summary it's an old 1970's Datejust with an after market dial and bezel fitted. It's described as an early 1990's watch in the listing, that's not right.
A quick note, you can easily and quickly tell the age of a Rolex by checking the serial number against one of many serial number reference charts, such as this....

I've had a look again at the quoted list prices of their watches, and most are wrong.
They list a 16570 Ex II at £4400, the current UK list is £3420. Their sale price is £3600, you can buy this from a UK Rolex AD at £3420.....

They list a 16610 Sub-Date at £4500, the current UK list is £3470.

Nearly all the quoted list prices are wrong.....

I'll second Dom H's last post here. Just checked the latest Rolex price list (picked up yesterday with the brochure and a new watch) All their RRP's seem to be slightly high on their site. Looks iffy IMHO.
eg, http://www.swisswrist.co.uk/index.php?vars=product...
Listing the RRP as £6900.00 whereas the official list price is actually £5370.00
