You'd better be quick, as the prices go up by at least 7% next Monday.....
Which model are you after?

It's just a Planet Ocean model. I think it's the one that was in the new James Bond film but not the special edition model. Just trying to get a handle of what discouts are available.

I was in the Royal Exchange Omega shop tonight as it happens, and they also said about the price rises. In the face of that, I doubt you'll see much extra discount!

I looked at a PO last week at 2K GBP and the shop assistant said it was going up to 2.2K GBP soon, so better buy quick was his comment. I do not think so.

Happily I passed on it, but I think 1.6k to 1.7k GBP would be possible, if you push hard.

I have seen a few mint, used ones offered at and below 1.5K GBP,

check out watches.co.uk.

Personally I am going done the Sinn or Fortis route now.

Good luck.

A few weeks ago Emsom Haig in Lakeside had 2 or 3 new Planet Oceans for £1500 - but not sure if the sale is over now.

I found several shops in Lakeside and Bluewater that would go down to £1600 with a free service from a couple too.

Good luck!

Have just bought a Sinn but, before doing so got a quote from the high street on a PO of about £200 off. I think it was Goldsmiths. I decided on the Sinn because I really was going to dive with it and not just wear it for 'show'.

If you don't ask you don't get, as I found out yesterday. I was expecting 5% max off a Rolex on the high street and ended up with over 13% smile

The worst that can happen is they say 'No'. Just tell them what you want to pay (within reason) and tell them where the deals are that you've been offered - internet or not, just be honest. I get this every day with cars, why should watches be any different you can be talking the same sort of money ? If the dealer can do the deal he will in this economic climate. Do you think there are that many people spending 'X' thousands on watches at the moment ? It's a buyers market. try your luck and be confident enough to walk away if the dealer doesn't offer you the deal you want first time around, he'll get back to you yes

It wasn't a dig at the PO, I quite liked them, more that the Sinn feels more 'rugged' and I'm clumsy! ( plus I saved nearly £1k to boot!)

I got my Speedy Pro from Goldsmiths for 1600 instead of 1950 back in June or July so I'd imagine you could get 20% easily.

I'd be hoping for more like 30-40% off for a cash sale on a "watch in the window".

Likewise was offered a Speedy Pro for £1716 at Goldsmiths, couldn't get anymore out of em. This was in October.

The difference in price might be reflected in the location of the Goldsmiths store, I went to the one in the Bullring where I imagine the rent is quite high.

On a related note, what would I be likely to get off a Quartz Seamaster Pro? Last time I tried was a few years ago in goldsmiths, they wouldn't budge a penny and somehow got me nearly upsold to a Breitling Steelfish! (it was my first try)

I think you can get about 15% off by buying online at Goldsmiths via Quidco. You won't get the money back immediately but may be worth looking into?

There's that phrase again, never understood how you can step 'up' from an Omega to a brightbling.... rofl

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Asked a salesman in Goldsmiths for 20% of a £2500 ladies Omega yesterday.
said 10% was the max he could give.thought that was a bit mean in the present down turn...

Goldsmiths will not give more than 10% on omega, I tried very had for 15%, failed.

Still tempted with the watch though, a SMP 2254.50, want to get one before they dissapear.

Upsold as in more expensive.

Even as a n00bie 21 year old I could tell paying more for a Breitling was silly money. Wish I had gone for the seamaster that day as £875 doesnt seem that bad compared to £1075 these days.

I'd say it depends on the model and how ambitious the salesman is. Didn't take much to knock off 15% on a speedy pro.
