The internet is generally an excellent source of info, but in this case it would appear not.

I think I have established that it is a Tag 2000 Classic Quartz? Can anyone confirm that?

There are also some major discrepencies on price, there was one on ebay, second hand and apparently the previous owner had lost the papers for it - went for £400. Some of the American sites have it at $800 ish.

I assumed it was a very old model, would it be wrong of me to assume the Tag 2000 was a year 2000 model? I have bought it knowing very little, other than it is genuine and comes with box/papers and receipt for recent service and reseal etc. I have paid far less than half of the £400 that the boxless one went for on ebay, so not overly concerned.

I am looking forward to seeing it in the 'flesh' as pictures rarely do them justice.

It is purely to use at times when my Carrera Chrono or GMT 11c are not appropriate.

So if anyone can tell me about it, and perhaps offer their opinion on what value you would put on it for insurance purposes, it would be much appreciated.

It still may end up back for sale again.

Have you tried searching with the model designation (WK1120.BB0314). The former denotes the watch body, the latter the strap, and it is worth just searching the first section of that string for broader results.

That confirms RRP at £800. I wish these sites would mention what they sold them for.

Would £100 be seen as a good price then?

Not bad. I did a search on watchuseek and found an old ebay auction note which seemed to suggest that one had sold for $280.

At £100 I reckon it's certainly reached the bottom of its curve, and as a quartz beater you could certainly do worse...

They just don't really do it for me I'm afraid. I'm not so keen on bi-metal and the Tag quartz watches (certainly at RRP) seem cynically overpriced for what they are. Still, at £100 notes and with box and brochure I think you've probably done OK. smile

I have to say, the pictures really havent done it justice.

I took it this morning to have a link removed so it fitted my child sized wrist and looking at it, the gold isnt too shiny, it's in excellent condition, its quite flashy but classy at the same time so I dont feel silly wearing it.

It is a decent size for a suit.

I feel I've done well and it complements my existing watches quite nicely in that it has its own little place. Wont mind too much about it getting the odd scratch either.

Very close to my first watch (SS strap and white face of this).

I still wear it from time to time - as you say, it's good under suits and shirts, being quite thin.
