Where can I get a genuine pre-owned watch?
Discussion
I'm looking for an Omega Double-Eagle Chronometer in steel and gold. Omega stockists tell me that watch has been discontinued and the Omega web site only shows the 38mm version which is too big. There was also a 35mm one which I guess is the discontinued one. Can anyone point me to a reputable supplier of genuine pre-owned watches where I might find what I'm looking for?
The watch looks like this, though the image shows the 38mm one, not the 35mm one...

What do we think of Watchfinder?
I've never used them, but I think that's the watch you're looking for.

Yes, I was just on there before I posted up here. It's certainly the watch I want, but I've never heard of the company. I wondered if anyone has first-hand experience of a good physical shop selling watches.I've never used them, but I think that's the watch you're looking for.

That's quite an unusual watch, and probably not the best seller when new. Subsequently, you won't see many on the used market. Have a look at all the usual sellers, and you might try Googling the Omega ref for a UK search and see if it brings up any...The watch looks like this, though the image shows the 38mm one, not the 35mm one...

Good luck with your search,

It is an unusual watch, and clearly not a good seller as they do appear to have discontinued it - the 35mm one anyway. I have Googled the ref. and found quite a few online places claiming to sell it. My purpose of this thread was to hopefully identify a reputable seller who's watches are genuine. Omega claim that their watches aren't sold new online at all, though as I'd prefer a pre-owned one there might be examples around... it's a case of making sure I don't end up with a fake for 'real article' money!Good luck with your search,
Dom.
I just got a quote from Watchfinder and unfortunately the price they came back with was as much as the new price that i was being quoted by local jewellers before the watch was discontinued, so I guess they're either selling a new one or charging an very high price for a pre-owned one.
Update! The quote from Watchfinder was for a new one, so I asked about 'pre-owned' ones and they said I could expect to pay about 50% of the new price, though they don't have the one I want at the moment. I'm going to keep an eye on the site. Thanks to everyone for the feedback about Watchfinder too - turns out one of my work colleagues has had two pieces from them too and was also very happy with the service, so I'll definitely be doing business with them.
