How much is a LV Submariner going to set me back today?
Discussion
Ok, I'm thinking of scratching the LV Submariner itch. What sort of money is a nice used example going to set me back (boxed with papers)?
I could have bought a new one from a Jewellers window in Grimsby of all places last week (they also had black and white Milgausses), but want a cheaper, used example. I'd sooner do a private deal than pay a premium at a dealers.

Why bother - just get a "good quality" fake one
Plenty of sound advice on the other thread
Because there is a difference in wanting to pay the best price for something to stop you getting your pants pulled down come resale time (me) and someone who wants to look the part without paying the price (not me).
Plenty of sound advice on the other thread

All of this thinking about Rolexes reminded me I have a SS Oysterdate at Rolex being serviced - they wrote to me a year ago to tell me it's ready! I hope they haven't binned it!

? It's often used when someone is joking / being sarcastic on an internet forum as I'd have thought someone with over 5k posts would have known.Edited by andy tims on Tuesday 3rd March 22:43

And an even worse thread, which I ended up reading. On a positive note, I found my paperwork from Rolex (2 years since I dropped it off) and am picking it up tomorrow. What a muppet.

Out of sheer interest, how much are Richard Mille watches to buy? I guess by asking that question alone, I'll never afford one! lol
think they kick off around the 30k mark. I last looked at them in the flesh in the boutique in Paris where they couldn't have been more helpful despite me saying my cars would have to go first! the RM10 in rose gold is stunning. Problem is they don't hold their value very well sadly.

Particularly when the seller has NO IDEA what they're selling!
This doesn't seem to be a bad substitute and a lot less than a RM! http://www.watchshopuk.com/mens-rotary-editions-ov...
Hmmm!

I've always wanted a RM, preferably the simple RM005 or similar rather than the over-complicated blingery that you see Felipe Massa wearing. Buying new isn't going to happen unless something drastic happens to me financially, however I can at least aspire to saving up for a used one.
Of course, if you find someone who's loaded, doesn't give a damn, doesn't know what these watches trade for second-hand, and just wants rid, then you're laughing...
The difficulty is finding someone like that in the first place. People who buy the more subtle Richard Milles are likely to be watch enthusiasts, I'd have thought, and enthusiasts with good taste who are unlikely to give it away. Perhaps the footballer types may have the more 'in-yer-face' models like the RM025 with the tourbillon, or one of the chronographs in gold, but the technology and materials science in the RM watches IMO dictates that the case should be titanium, special steel or something other than gold or platinum, but that's just me
