Hello all!

I'd like to pick your collective horological brains!

Whilst setting my PO this morning, i found that whilst setting the date, i didn't get the usual 'click' when the next date rolled over, and it took an extra 1/2 turn or so of the crown.

As i turned the crown, the date started to rotate as normal, then it froze, although the crown was still turning freely, then started to turn over again... I went through the calendar again, and it did the same on every 'change-over'...

So any ideas? Is this something to be worried about?

The watch is approx 2 1/2 years old, bought new from an AD...

Thanks in advance,

Andy.

Andy,
The Omega Planet Ocean automatic has the 'co-axial' movement which has a 3 year warranty. Return the watch to Omega for corrective attention.

Hope this helps,

DH

Thanks Dom,

It seems the watch can no longer change date by itself, which is a bugger frown

Any ideas what it might be?

Did you try and set the date with the time set close to (within a couple of hours either side of) midnight?

That can bugger the movement as it's engaging the date switch mechanics at around that sort of time.

Hi Ari,

Nope, I know not to change the date when it's nearing change-over.

I set the date to the day before, then set the time making the date change to the correct date, this way i know the time is set to am rather than pm, and it won't change date it noon... I can't imagine that this would cause any problems, it's the way i've set the time/date on my watches for 15+ years and I've never had an issue before.

I've always been a bit concerned about the date function on this watch, as it never changes on midnight, more often between 11:30 - 11:45. My other watches are all much more accurate in this regard....

I thought he same as Ari, but you set yours like I do.

I'd send it in for repair/looking at. Omega are pretty good IME at sorting stuff, though it can take time (8-12wks).

I have 4 different makes of watch and they all flick the date over at different times, between 1130 and 0100 or so. I take it as the charm of owning a mechanical watch smile
