Earlier today I was chatting to my boss about his weekend, which was spent visiting his Brother in Law. He has mentioned in the past that said BiL has a rather large watch collection, something he cannot understand - You know, if it tells the time, why pay more for something that does the same? While he was visiting he told him of the watch I have recently bought and the fact I wear it to work everyday ... His BiL exclaimed in horror that I was completely mad for wearing it to work!

I understand where he is coming from - My wrists can have an occasional tendancy to come into contact with metal that would stratch any watch, but I am very cautious and will remove my watch if I feel there is a chance it will be damaged. However I don't see myself wearing it solely for evenings out, as it wouldn't get much wrist time! eek

I'm sure others on here wear their p&j watches to work and out-and-about everyday ... What is your favourite watch that you will wear anywhere? Anyone know of any watches that were used as daily bashers, but really shouldn't been?

Also I'm looking at another watch now! hehe I'm tempted by either a Planet Ocean 42mm or a Breitling Aeromarine Colt GMT ...

Any opinions on the Colt? Any other suggestions? Must be automatic, modern-design, steel bracelet and not a Sinn wink Just don't think they suit me!

Cheers! smile

Out of those two - Planet Ocean!

I wear my Sinn when at home and out and about.
G-Shock in the gym and playing sports.
Seiko for work.

The Sinn probably gets the most wrist time! I know the Seiko is still a good watch, but the Sinn just feels soo much sturdy and better made, it also weighs a bit more aswell.

I was gunna have the Sin for work aswell, but decided against it when it first arrivedbiggrin

I wear all my watches all the time (B&R, Heuer and Tag Monaco's, vintage Heuer, Oris etc). I'm not bothered if they get the odd scratch etc as it just gives a bit of character and they were made to be worn not polished and displayed.

As for other people reactions, I really don't think anyone notices! The B&R gets the odd glance but that is because it is big, I don't think people really care.

Ditto.

Not intending selling any of them, so it doesn't matter whether they get the odd scuff. And when it comes time to pass them on, they'll have patina.

Of the two the OP notes, I'd have the PO.

GMT Master II has been my daily wearer for 9 years now. Its even on my wrist down the gym 4 / 5 times a week whilst doing weights etc. I wear the Daytona probably once or twice a month at most.

I have an office based job, so wear all of my watches without being afraid to damage them at work.
I have a couple of "beaters" to wear if I'm doing manual work around the house, or going to the beach etc. so the good ones don't get damaged.

Funnily enough as I was clearing out the gutters today, I thought perhaps I shouldn't be wearing my watch ( a GO sports evo) but I did anyway.......should have gone upstairs and put the Sinn on! (tough as ol' boots). Watches are for wearing tho' and I don't want to get too 'precious' about wearing a good one.

The only time I moderate my usual stance of wearing whichever watch I want to is if I am going out with the avowwed intention of getting stocious. In which case I put a swatch on. Otherwise they're there to be worn and right now it's a vintage Longines.

Only time I wouldn't wear mine is when playing sport, not because im worried about it, but because its heavy and leaves a mark.

If I was worried about it I'd know that I had spent too much money on a watch.

I tend to swap and change according to what I'm wearing, and I also tend to make sure that all my watches get worn at some point during the week.

The most regularly worn is the Sinn 856 UTC at present. It's the newest addition, but it was also bought to be a beater and therefore it gets the most wrist time. It is also the only watch I have with a date.

I'm wearing my Speedie pro today. Haven't worn it for a week or so, and every time I do I wonder why it doesn't get worn more often.

The Stowa MO is seeing daylight the least at present. I've had it for a year and to be honest I'm thinking about moving it on. Not sure what I'd replace it with, but it just doesn't get enough wrist time.

I am glad I'm not the only one then smile If you send the watches back to the manufacturer for a service do they not re-polish some of the surface scratches out of the bracelet/casing?

Yeah, truth be told I'm lusting after the PO smile I might have to wait a bit though!

I've had an Explorer II for ten years and it's been off my wrist only for servicing (2) and lately when I'm in the hills (I've a Suunto for that - the features do get used!). In all that time it's picked up a few slight dings but looks practicaly brand new. The only time it has missed a beat was a sedentary period of work when after 2 weeks of sitting at a monitor it stopped as it hadn't been getting enough wrist action (phnar).
I've had it on while I've been climbing, diving, shooting, hill running, swimming etc; it was with me for a few ultra races and has seen lots of time in the Sahara (50+ C) and blizzards in the Cairngorms (-10 C). It's been with me for weddings, funerals, parties and balls; in suits or jeans or shorts - it really is flexible. The 24 hr hand is a feature I use (I work abroad so keep the 24hr hand on UK time), it's plain, easily visible, well made and doesn't shout 'ROLEX EVERYONE!!!!'. It has also held its value pretty well.

The Suunto gets used when out and about - again, the features such as compass and altimeter are used (for long distance orienteering over hills it's handy to have 'there' and serves as a backup to the main compass).

The idea was to hand the Explorer down to my boy later on but I've two kids now so have been looking for a while for something interesting for my other boy. I swithered about a Sea Dweller but I think the Sinn U1000 is very interesting - saving at the moment. I've no idea how they'll end up rotated - maybe one for dress, one for everyday but it'll probably end up far more random than that!

PS - OP -> PO IMO!

I wear my IWC Aquatimer 2000 Ti all the time - most comfortable watch I've ever owned due to the weight. I do think hmm maybe I shouldn't be wearing this now (like yesterday: cleaning the wheelie bin - oh the glamour!) but it hasn't a mark on it.

I now have a Vintage Collection Aquatimer I use for evenings out, which I absolutely adore, and a lovely Pilot Doppel which gets rotated.

Have a Milguass which hasn't been worn in ages...ooops!

OP - grab yourself an IWC AT 2000 before they're all gone (rare now - replacement model out soon), best thing you'll ever do!

I'd guess that the Rolex SD gets the majority of the wear as I know there is little that I can do to break it.
The Glashutte is worn often as well but only when I'm wearing darker suits and as I can't be asred to change the strap usualy only with black shoes and belt - obviously.
The Reverso is worn less - As it's gold it is more prone to scratching and can have a habit of being a bit dressy if I'm wearing casual stuff.
The Carrera rarely gets worn nowadays but usualy when casual.

Of the two - I'd go for the PO

For me on an everyday use (office based) I tend to rotate between base Panerai and my new Kobold Soaraway GMT with an occasional use of a Monaco and the Seamaster my father got me for my 18th many many moons ago.

If going out and about in the hills or holiday where I know it may get beaten up then I'll switch to the Suunto, which has so far survived everything I can throw at it.
