Can't help online as such - but if you're near London then there's a great place in the Burlington Arcade at the end of New Bond Street that has tons of them.

No idea if the prices are good - spotted the place when buying some shoes last year.

Rolex serial numbers (engraved on the case side at 6 o'clock) are sequential. Acknowledged data indicates that a case number between 3478000 and 3741000 would have been manufactured in 1972.
Hope this helps you refine your search....

Dom.

Got mine from here: http://www.austinkaye.co.uk/Home/Default.aspx

Early 70s datejust. Looked like new when it turned up, though getting a little scratchy now as I wear it constantly. Came with a 2 year warrenty which I've had to use a couple of times. Once when it stopped working and another when the winder came out. Each time though it was repaired without any hassle or quibbles at all. If I'd bought privately I've had to fork out each time so can't complain really.

Price wasn't bad either.

definitely sounds like you want the place in burlington arcade. which is http://www.vintagewatchcompany.com/ i think. I was toying with getting once from the year of my birth and there was plenty available. Prices seem to start around £2.5k for most of their stock from that era.

Bit on the pricey side surely? Paid a lot less than that for mine from a dealers.

ah, good spot but while flexible on looks gold its my 1st choice & also he expects a classic car in return so he might be unrealistic in expectations!
