Birth Year Watches

Following Quinny's post on the Speedmaster thread I wondered about whether the next itch to be scratched in my watch collection might be a birth year watch.

For me, that's 1974. I already have a Speedie, and I know that I could also look at a Sub or something else similar with a '74 build number, but I'd also like to explore something which would date itself more precisely to that time, but which I'd obviously want to wear today. There must be something tasty from Heuer from around that time which would fit the bill for example.

Any suggestions and, whilst you're at it, what would be your perfect birth year watch?

Like Dominic, I find it hard to wear a sundial on my wrist but my abacus is still doing fine.................

I saw a 1972 Rolex Sub on sale the other day. Only £19k.

Trying to find a nice 1943 Rolex or similar may be difficult and expensive. Maybe I'll have to settle for a Rotary...nothing wrong with old Rotarys in my opinion!

I'm guessing they made them the year after in '87? In which case, I'll take that one!

Had a quick Google earlier, but couldn't find anything specifically made in '87.
