jewelers rouge - white for stainless and brown for extra fine and gold/silver
I have resurrected my son's trashed seiko with rouge and a dremel to near perfection - (couple of scratches were too deep).

Polywatch - bit like brasso - good for 'plastic/glass' faces - can use brown rouge on glass as well.

Cape cod cloth,

all available thru ebay amnd the likes.

Can anyone recommend a good way of cleaning a watch that is not at all abrasive? One of mine is becoming a bit smelly due to overuse! biggrin A soft cloth and some water?

For getting rid of scratches in brushed metal finishes, you could do worse than grabbing a couple of Garryflex blocks.

u got time?

I find that for the genral cleaning of a S/S watch, not the removal of scratches, the use of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush works wonders...... brings the watch up like new.

I used an old electric toothbrush and a bit of soap on my Seamaster and it came up as new.

for an all-metal watch (and metal band) you'll never go wrong with about 2CM of Ammonia in a bowl, sit watch in face-down. Leave sitting 5 minutes, scrub with toothbrush in Ammonia, rinse with cold water.

this removes all grime, grease, sweat, salt water, etc and is great for SWMBO's bracelets, rings as well.

best part, costs near SFA......!

I just use fingers and fairy liquid, and rinse them under the tap. Do this once a week or so and it won't get too dirty.

With leather straps you should just replace them periodically.

My Seamaster gets a daily clean in the shower with me! biggrin

Currently using showerfoam gel stuff, it glistens (like me!)
