Was just browsing fleabay, and came across this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cartier-Santos-100-XL-18ct-G...

Crikey, the watch was manufactured in 2005 and retailed at £54,500.00 and here it is turning up on eBay as an unredeemed pledge from a pawnbroker.

Either the credit crunch has really hit someone since it's purchase, or it's some kind of scam (although it is a business ebay account from 2003).

Crazy...

Have a look at the other items from this seller.

Looks like the credit crunch is biting. IIRC a new pawn brokers has opened up in the City of London which is the first for 50 years or so.

Yep - some seriously tasteless bling up for sale there - I have a strong feeling the seller is going to struggle though. Not only are these massively over-expensive watches (ie it is the horrible bling that is the cost inflator) - but this kind of ostentation is rather going out of fashion I feel.

These kinds of watches represent the excesses of the last twenty years - and as such now appear a bit like the "it" girl dripping with fake tan and diamonds all dressed up but with no party to go to IMHO.
