Whats with the A. on the bottom sub dial at 6'o clock?

Have never seen an IWC with numbers as hour markers?

Its awful?

The 'A' is for Antoine de Saint Exupéry, the French write and aviator. IWC do limited edition versions of their pilot/spitfire watches celebrating his life/achievements.

really?

it looks like someone has written it on with a black CD pen - maybe just a bad angle.

what colour is the case - hard to tell?

IWC Chrono-Automatic Antoine de Saint Exupery. Special Edition of the standard Chrono-Automatic, issued in 2006. Rose Gold Case, tobacco dial. They produced 1931 editions of this watch to commemorate 75 years since the public of his book "Night Flight" in 1931. Google is a wonderful thing wink

Unless you're about to tell me that it's a counterfeit, I think thats a lovely watch to own. Have you had it long?

I think it is a fake. The rose gold version of this watch has the "A" in rose gold colour, not like the one you have shown. The second hand (left small dial) is the wrong colour (should be rose gold and smaller). Will that do for a start? Hmm, the strap doesn't somehow look the right quality either. About £100 in my book.

I agree on the A. colour, but the smaller of the sub dials was silver on this watch, and the same colour as the face on the SS version.

The strap looks like it has been hand stitched so I would say at least the strap is real and as such must be quite a pricey item.

All the sub dials were silver on the rose gold St Exupery but the hand on the left sub dial is nothing like that shown in the first picture. Personally I'd love a non chrono but they only come with a leather strap which would last about 10 mins on my acid wrist.

That one is fake. I was reading a watch blog in work on Friday and the blogger had recently bought a real version. When I tapped the name of it into Google I was surprised to see that the majority of results were advertising fake watches - is there no control over it?

I do like the watch, would much prefer the stainless steel version however.

Also, this fake is meant to be a very high quality fake, why anyone would pay £300 for a copy of a £3,000 watch is beyond me. £300... for a fake???

Indeed. I can't even fathom the logic of spending £10 on a fake, let alone enough to buy a perfectly decent watch of its own good standing.

Even if it were the real deal, it's not one of IWC's best designs IMHO

As a chrono I agree Andty because I have the spitfire chrono but the simpler version I like quite a lot as long as it is in stainless. Like I said above though, they don't and won't supply it with a bracelet.

Original post is obviously a fake. The A. is not raised lettering and wrong color. Also the dial is just not right.
