I'm not really into expensive watches but due to an insurance claim I have around £1200 to put towards a new watch, but I don't mind adding a little to this to buy something really nice. I had a look in a few jewellers at the weekend and like the speedmaster day-date in steel with the steel strap and blue dial. Has anyone got any thoughts on this watch or should I be looking at something else for this sort of money?

I notice they're not as popular although from a functional viewpoint I think they are more useful on a daily basis.

I prefer the day date, its a great watch and a little different from the standard speedy and a lot more useful!

I've got a speedy date in blue which which i really like.

Could have gone for the day date, but 99% of the time I do know what day it ishehehehe

That looks really nice, I did notice them on the omega website and intend to have a look at one before I get anything.

TBH guys I've never done the expensive watch thing before and just picked a couple in the shop window that caught my eye. Is there anything else in this price range and sort of style I should have a look at?

Omega Planet Ocean, will need to ad a few pennys to it though but would be well worth a look.

Whilst the auto models, with Saphire crystal are much more practical, the Speedmaster Professional will probably always be the most sought after model. You can buy used for £1,200 or less via TZ-UK etc.

Sold mine for £1,225 only the other day

That Speedmaster Professional looks very nice, and I rather like the look of the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tachymeter with either the blue or silver dial. I'll have a look a few of the suggestions mentioned before I go any further.
