Can any of you watch connoisseurs tell me the difference between an SKX009J and an SKX007J?

I`ve been looking at a few on the net but can`t quite find out how they differ.

Many thanks.

They are basically the same, excellent, watch. The only diference is the bezel insert - Black on the 007 and Red & Blue (Pepsi) on the 009.

Both have the well respected 7S26 automatic movement.

Either are a great choice of value auto divers watch. Buy one - you won't regret it.

Cheers, I think I prefer the black 007 one.

How much should I be paying? Ideally I`d like a bracelet as opposed to a strap.

Also, can somebody point me in the direction of a good source?

Many thanks.

These two watches are both the same bar colour (black and blue) I just bought an SKX009 for £163 from mywatchsop.co.uk (don't think they have any SKX0007 in stock at the mo). Not particularly cheap as you can probably get an SKX007 for up to £50 less on ebay or other suppliers, but I couldn't wait too long for one to come along. RLT watches used to stock them (for £99!), and I think if you contact him directly he can source them individually.

The 007 is too similar to my Ollech & Wajs so I went for the Pepsi version - which I have admired for a while (and I remember earlier versions from my youth).

So far so good. It is smart, I like the retro and functional design of the case, dial and bezel & size, and feels tough and up for work. It keeps good time to date and has day and date as opposed to just date which is often all you get on a diver or sub replica. I also quite like the wobbly jubilee bracelet, which may be seen as a minus point.

Quirks I have noted:

- no hacking (second hand does not stop when you pull the crown out to adjust date and time), but you can sort of stop/reverse the second hand by turning the crown in an opposite direction if you really want to get exact time.

- lumious dot is on the "wrong" end of the second hand

Many thanks for that prand.

I`ve found a watch on the bay for £119. Might be a goer I think!

My 007 has been a fantastic watch over the last couple of weeks. Hasnt come off my wrist so I have a great tan mark - scuba diving, snorkeling, shower, bath, jacuzzi, tennis, sweat, running, absolutely everything. It is very accurate.

I picked mine up earlier this year on a bracelet, good as new.

I had the same questions at the time. Try them both on, black looks classier.

Fantastic watches, SO much watch for the price. Great quality.

Do it.

I quite often pick mine up and put it on before my Omega PO.

Youll be paying a lot more for a J than a K. This denotes the country of manufacture (Japan or Malaysia). That said: I see that even Monsters are now made in China with a Malaysian movement... The number after the letter -J1 or J2 etc- denotes the bracelet type.

As far as I know, the Japanese version will also say "21 jewels" beneath the "Diver's 200m" text on the watch face, so you should be able to tell pretty easily from first glance what version it is.

Really? The ones I`m looking at have "23 jewels" on the face.

Can any of you fine people have a look at the justSEIKO e-bay shop and try to assess if these are the real deal?

I`m specifically after a J watch.

Many thanks as usual.

Sod the Pepsi look. The IWC is going to have a rest during Le Mans - ordered a black Monster from RKwatchhousebiggrin

Got to say that they are extraordinary though. Ordered and paid Friday morning, received an email midday saying already despatched and giving the tracking number. Thanks to all who recommended them.

black or night monster (black is face, night is the whole body and strap)

Black. Not sure if the night will last as supplied. The bracelet may well scratch and look naff whereas the black will surely last a while. Pity though - missed a new blue monster recently at £300. Now that would have been a good buy!

On a side note, how long should my Monster run for off the wrist? Say I have been wearing it for 5 days on the trot, should I expect it to last 48 hours just sitting around?

Both of my 7S26 calibres are really only good for a day at the very outside.

+1, a day or day and a bit for my SKX031 and J Springs with the same movement.

Rare (and becoming rarer) 'J' models will also say 'Made in Japan' on the bottom of the dial, making identification even easier than previously suggested!! biggrin

What are the technical differences between the SKX007J and the SKX007K? I understand they are made in different countries, and the J has '21 Jewels' and 'Made in Japan' on the face but after that I'm a bit lost. Are there differences in the movements or are they identical design? Basically, if you were to buy one, would you search out a made in Japan SKX007J? Thanks.

I would, but for no better reason than Id really like a black Japanese SKX00x with an Oyster braclet (whichs far superior to the more common Jubilee type, and also still has an extension).

The dearer Monster dives are now made in China, with a Malaysian movement, so I suppose that theyll soon become impossible to find.
