Tag Calibre S.... Thoughts? And where is best to buy?
Discussion
Hi Nick, dont know much about the Calbre S, but I got a Monaco a few years ago whilst in Barbados ( when the pound was stronger) might still be worth looking to get one either when on holiday or asking someone else to get it for you if theyre off to sunnier climes.
ETA - by the way WTF are you doing spending your Tuscan Challenge budget on a watch!

What are you doing in the watch forum?? I thought here was safe from the Challenge lot! It's a graduation present from my family for when I start work in London next month, though I will have to put a little in I would think. The racing budget is safe though, don't worry I'm hopefully testing with G next Weds in an undisclosed location...ETA - by the way WTF are you doing spending your Tuscan Challenge budget on a watch!

I have a Link Calibre S The main aspect of the Calibre S that appealed to me was the interesting and more importantly, unique design of the watch itself. The sub-dials add character and frequently become a talking point ask to what they do! To be honest when using the chronograph function it is rather cool to watch the 1/10 and 1/100sec sub-dials rise and fall to display the timing
It is beautifully crafted. I love the polished stainless steel bezel (non-rotating) against the brushed stainless steel of the casing and bracelet. The Link bracelet is also very comfortable and looks the badger's nadgers!
The only downside that comes to mind is that the lume is pretty much useless (I have a Planet Ocean for my lume needs!) - There simply isn't enough on the hands and hour markers.
I created a topic when the watch arrived, which has some photos. Not sure if the photos are still viewable, as 'TinyPic.com' is blocked at my workplace. If not, I'll upload some when I'm home. The thread is: here
As for a good price, ask Dominic H who is a member on here - He might be able to help you out
Any questions, just ask!

Thanks very much for that guys, I will certainly be going with my choice and no one elses... Just wanted to check if there were any horror stories I'd not heard of... I've emailed Dominic so with a bit of luck he can get me a good deal - thanks very much for the contact info
Dominic's shop is luckily very close to where I will be working in Holborn so I may pay him a visit in person and talk cars and watches!

got a monaco re-edition bought back in 2001 and really like the carrera RS calibre (?? - can't remember the number). The new monaco concept looks amazing and would seriously be tempted to spend mega money on one if it was released. Looked at the ltd re-edition of the monaco (1000 time pieces) and even though it's a homage to the original (40mm (so small by modern sizes)heuer logo without the TAG bit, crown on the left, different chronos and other bits) but at 6,250 didn't feel it was so special.
I would seriously consider an RS if it was 3.5-4k
