Dear All,

I am after buying the wife a nice watch . I have a rolex datejust in mind and I have come across this company
http://www.melrosejewelers.co.uk/

Does anyone have any experience of them ?

I gather that they 'customise' rolex watches.

I am after a tasteful datejust with a few diamonds added and I understand that the rolex warranty will be void etc ?

Are they real watches ? or cheap fakes ?

I must say for less than 3k you can get a nice datejust which raises my suspicions.

Any info would be gratefully appreciated

Thanks

Drfrank

thanks,

those reviews seem a little odd, with every person ending with a double digit (fred&jane67 etc)

Can Dom H shed any light ?

Thanks

Haha, faaaaaaaaaake reviews added by the site owner. Yuo can tell by the stupid usernames and the fact that EVERY review is the same length!

Ridiculous.

Yes - those reviews are clearly written by the same person. The underlying syntax, structure, verb-usage etc is very similar on all of them.

I guess you can't blame them for trying...

Blinged up watches are horrid though. No exceptions.

A touch harsh no !!

I don't want a complete 'pimp-my-watch' just a few diamonds on the bezel !!

Sorry, I didn't see that it is for your wife in your original post, that'll teach me to read properly... OK I can understand the diamonds thing now.

They appear to be watches of an unspecified date or age, with non-original dials/bezels and bracelets. Have a look on ebay to see just how cheap these dials and bezels can be bought for, add the cost of a good sound Rolex datejust and see if the costs at Melrose are competitive.

Rolex watches are warranted for two years, so these would probably be out of warranty. Rolex will not work on a watch with non-original parts, without replacing them at the owners cost.
