I've wanted a stainless steel Daytona for ages but couldn't find any shops who would put me on the waiting list and I didn't want to pay a premium for one.

I've seen one in Tenerife, albeit with a leather strap.

Are these similarly rare as the ones with the stainless strap?

What's the current UK list price?

Could I later buy a stainless strap for it?

Many thanks

Jason

Jason,

Rolex do not sell the 116520 on a strap, it's only sold on a steel bracelet at £6170.
If it's new you have probably seen the readily available 116519 white gold Daytona on a strap.
What does the seller claim the watch to be? It's posible that it may be a previously owned steel Daytona with a strap added, you'll need to check the model number.

Thanks for that. I've only been window shopping so far! I didn't think about it being white gold - I just knew it wasn't platinum as it hasn't got the red needles and so I assumed it was stainless.

Oh well, the exchange rate's bad anyway!

Cheers

Why not just buy a pre-owned one privately? Although dealers are asking premiums (which I'm not convinced they're getting) private sales are going through at list or below depending on provenance and condition.

And yes, I have one, and yes, it's for sale...so PM me if interested. You will also find SS Daytonas on TZ-UK.com and Timezone.com, although the majority in the latter case will be in the US. I wouldn't buy one from eBay unless you take a Rolex-trained watchmaker with you to inspect it...
