Go on then... fill me in on these little beauties which I'd not discovered until mention of them on the accuracy thread.

What am I missing and how much is it going to cost me? They look funky smile

I'm sure this is what my other half has. I'm sure he will be along shortly to discuss.

Okay, I'll start - this is mine

Cost me £30 from an eBay shop in New York and I use it to keep my other watches accurate. I have never worn it and it is by far the most accurate. There are literally hundreds of variants ranging from £30 upwards.

Tough as nails especially the G-Shock variants, and of course can go the other way and you can get them in dress watch guise. I am sure others will be along with their opinions but I say you can't go wrong with them.

I have 2 of them that I use as daily bashers. Excellent watch and as accurate as it gets really.

excellent, cheers smile

Not sure why, but I'm really liking cheaper watches at the minute. Acquired quite a few G-shocks, seiko monsters and soem of WFWs finest.

Any particular models that are especially worth having? Not looking for dress watches, just stuff for knocking around in really.

There's something about cheap watches, isn't there. nuts

I quite fancy a wavecepter, tough solar G-shock now. Shame the strap isn't replaceable.

My entire collection is made up of cheap watches hehe

Whilst it may invite derision from the 'purists', I'm not fussed whether they have mechanical or electronic movements (though I'd love a Tourbillon skeleton) as long as I like the look of it and it has functions that I find useful (dual time, chrono, alarm)

Will post some pics of my 'Lidl selection d'elegance' hehe when I get a mo

The way I see it is it's like having different ties... or sports cars. One for every occasion. smile

You can go too far... but if it floats your boat, why not! All my cheapos are interesting (to me) to a degree, whether it's the style or the story behind it.

I've had this one for a couple of years. Perfect size and weight, and obviously unerringly accurate. I really wish the metal of the case and bracelet were as tough as the watch innards though - as a daily wearer it's looking decidedly battered now frown

Is there any kind of setup for these watches? I've been eyeing up a few in the windows of H Samuels and the like, and have been struck by the fact that they all seem to be giving slightly different times - not out by seconds, but sometimes by minutes?

In some 'busy' environments they will
not receive the signal correctly, ie in a shopping
arcade etc.
They are great watches, tough, stylish and deadly
accurate.

Ah, but the ones I saw were in H Samuels in Bracknell.

hardly a busy environment by any stretch of the imagination!

I'm wanting a new watch for day to day usage, and like the idea of these as something accurate and relatively inexpensive.

Although I wish I could remember the watch I saw in John Lewis Aberdeen last week - it was utterly stunning, around £360, and they don't list it on their bleedin' website!!!!

I've got one of their Chrono versions with a steel bracelet - really nice example and looks quite sporty for what it is.

Not sure if it's a Waveceptor, but I also have one of Casio's Pro-trek watches which are Auto-controlled, Solar powered and G-shock built. What a machine! eek

(oh yeh, and I do have a standard G-shock for gym/sports smile)

Clonmult, they send the signal during
the night.
I wonder if the shop pulls down a metal
shutter, this would block the signal.
