After months of research, finally put a deposit down for a Rolex Datejust last week at Berrys in Leeds. It is a 60th birthday present for my dad.

Picked up the watch yesterday from their Windsor store. VERY good customer service from Berrys and a great deal on the price too. The watch itself looks amazing. Pics, as promised:

Superb, I have a bi-metal with fluted bezel, champagne coloured dial and diamond dot markers.

Good stuff!

Was unsure how the bi metal comes up against SS in terms of preference.

For a 60th birthday then that looks perfect.

'Poppit' (Yes, everything has names) got one for Xmas a while ago and the bimetal (IMHO) looks better than all gold (my wallet thought so too!)

The small diamonds do fit although when described, one would assume they were too 'Bling' but they work. But then I guess Rolex know more than me about making and designign watches.....

Looks great and assume that he loved/loves it?

Well done - great present!

Thanks Slaav.

Haven't given the watch to him yet. His birthday is in August, so have about 5 weeks to wait. Was thinking that he may not like it etc etc, but going by the responses so far, I'm feeling a little more positive!

25 years ago, my Mum and I bought a bi-matal/fluted bezel/champange dial Datejust for my Dad's 60th Birthday combined retirement present.
He loved it and it was really the only possesion he had that he felt that way about, and wore it every day until he died some years back.
It's now mine.

What does the "Oyster" bit mean?
