40 years ago tomorrow Apollo 11 cleared the launch pad at Kennedy, going on to become the first manned mission to the moon, delivering Armstrong and Aldrin to the moon's surface on the 20th, returning safely to earth on the 24th.
Much is made of the technological advances of that flight, but the relevance for this particular forum is that the astronauts wore the grandfather of the watch I shall be wearing for the next 8 days, the Omega Speedmaster Professional.
The "Moonwatch" is a legendary timepiece both for its beauty, and its connection with manned space flight. It's also a popular watch here on the PH forum. So, chaps, I urge you to wear your Moonwatch for as much of the next 8 days as you can, and it'd be nice to have a few wrist shots while we're there.
To kick things off, here's one of possibly the best wrist shot of all time - Buzz Aldrin's Speedie pro, shortly before the lunar landing

I have a glass back speedie bought earlier this year I have other more expensive watches but the speedie feels like my Grail. I have only worn it thrice as i can't believe I have one. Weird bit dreamed of one as a kid
I used to have a crystal-backed Speedy Pro too, lovely thing.Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
