I've been looking at the birth year watch threads, and keep thinking I'd like to get one for my year of birth, but I also thought it would be nice to do the same for the kids and keep them back until there 18 or 21.
So now the kids are 3 and 6 there should be some nice pre owned stuff out there for there birth years 2003 and 2006.
But what sort of things would be good to buy now for the future? The value of it over time isn't as important as it not looking dated when it comes to them recieveing them.
I've a girl and a boy, so looking for ladies and gents suggestions.

Only thing to be wary of is the size. They're quite big now compared to 30 years ago, for instance, and I understand they're shrinking again as people are finding displaying riches starting to be slightly awkward in light of recent financial hiccups. Also, in terms of style, if you get something that looks modern now, it will look "retro" in 30 years time. Therefore, I'd stick to something with a classical look, perhaps an Omega Speedmaster or Seamaster, or something that looks more classical and dressy.

Hope that makes sense.
