Inspired by Toshi's hello thread after discovering the Oris was just too damn big for my wrist, I've just visited Jura in Mayfair (really nice guys) to check these out for size:

....and would most likely change the strap straight away:

Only issue being it's double my initial budget! The not-so-logical side of my brain says pants to it, can't take it with you (best price I've found is £975 delivered) but thought some due diligence was in order, so:

Is there a similar alternative?

Is there anywhere worth a look/call to find a second hand model?

I didn't know that Jura stocked Sinn. Did they have the full range?

You could have a look on the watch forum at tz-uk.com. Or, failing that, the watchuseek.com forum has some good classifieds.

You should find an 857 reasonably easily, but the 856 is far less common.

Jura has only just become a Sinn AD as they wanted a bricks and mortar outlet in the UK, although Neil at www.chronomaster.co.uk is still the place to go to buy as he is an on-line AD and doesn't have the overheads that Jura's is bound to have.

Come over and join us at tz-uk.com and place a WTB ad, I have bought a few watches that way and also sold some

I know your pain, I have my first born on the way in a few months and am trying to avoid splurging money at the moment.

However after getting a bit bored of collecting Swatches, discovering this bit of PH, and buying a Seiko Monster whilst stealthily saving for a Sinn U1, I have realised I need a 'fleiger' style watch too.

After scouring all the recommended forums suggested on here, I stumbled upon Yobokies. This is a guy in Hong Kong who modifies Seiko watches. I'm going to get flamed for this blatant 'homage', but I'm about to order this :

Eighty quidish all in.

There was/is a proper 556 on the classifieds here too.

My TZ account has just been authorised, will pop a hello in shortly & thanks for the pointer.

I've tried the other models models Sinn offer but none of them had the 'wow' the 857 did for me. It's a hell of a lot of money in my terms so I really want to adore rather than just like whatever I buy. I dismissed the more obvious choices (Tag, Omega et al) as I value having something a little unusual.

Hi sneijder, I have looked at Yobokies watches before and like several of his designs, including the one you have ordered. How do you go about contacting Yobokie to order from him?

Thanks.

No probs

The strap would fit 7 to 7 1/4" wrist. It's just a bit too snug for me, hence it's potential availability.

It came with the original rubber strap, but is a standard Sinn jobby.

You should be able to get one from Chronomaster, or SinnWatches

Ah right, thanks. I ask because the 857 on chronomaster appears to come with a leather strap.

My wrists are the slim girly type too, but my 356 Flieger looks fine on there. Beautiful watch!
