Hi all

Been reading this forum quite a bit since the misses has very kindly said she wanted to buy me a watch as a engagement present. The budget isnt enough to stretch to anything to wow you guys, being £300 max, but all the same hoping for a watch that will last if I look after it well.

I have looked at seiko, citizen and werners etc but have only really found 2 watches that I quite like the look of, one of which I cannot find on the highstreet to see.

These are:

The Tissot Velocit-T (which I think I prefer)

and the

Breil "One Ducati" Watch

Now the questions for you knowledgeable guys are:
1. What do you think?
2. Is there anywhere in the south west or south wales that might stock the tissot veloci-T, for me to see it?
3. Is there something that you would recomend in a similer vein that I might have missed?

Have only posted as have not found any previous threads on the veloci-t on here as i (may be wrong) think they are new out as of a couple of months ago.

Thanks in advance.

Don;t know anything about them but on looks alone I like the Tissot.

I don't like the shape of the case on the other it looks like a cheap argos 'fashion' watch IMO

I like the Tissot and it's a good brand. I've had good luck with them and that one looks very nice.

Tissot looks good enough to take a chance with an online seller. I am sure there must be places that will allow you an easy return if you find you don't like it.

No local Tissot dealers willing to order one in for you to look at?.

cheers for your replies guys.

I think i am definatly more keen on the Tissot, and have now found "the" one me thinks:

Slightly differewnt to the original 2 I asked about but I think i prefer the metal strap option for longevity, aswell as it suiting the white face more.

I think I'll go with your advice redtwin and try to either get one ordered in or go online.

Thanks again

I much prefer the Velocit-T to the Breil thing. I agree with someone else (sorry can't remember who) who said it looks like a cheap fashion watch.

Of the two Tissots, again I prefer the Velocit-T but apprecaite you prefer metal strap and it's your choice. smile

Tissot all the way. Not a fan of the motorsport tie-in watches. Look at all the Honda F1 Seikos still in jewellers gathering dust!

I'd go for a barely used Tag.

Tissot for sure.

I much prefer the first one you found, which is odd as I don't usually for for rubber straps, but which ever you prefer is better than the Breil.

I'd go Tissot, I have a couple and they have always been good watches. One I got for my graduation 20 (gulp) years ago and still going strong.

As a couple of people have commented, I normally go for metal bracelet or leather strap but the rubber strap with black face looks better to my eyes in this case. But hey, you're the one who is going to wear it so you know best what you need!

cheers guys, I rang a couple of local dealers in bristol and they all said they would have to order it in (taking 4-6 weeks!!) and couldn't do any deal on price. So have decided to go down the web route, and on the site I have found the do have a decent returns policy so the misses is ordering it tomorrow!!

Quite excited!!
